Impact
Driving sustainable impact through school feeding systems transformation.
For more than a decade, ESMI has strengthened school feeding systems, improved child nutrition, influenced policy reform, empowered communities, and created sustainable solutions for children, schools, farmers, women, and youth.
01Sekota Declaration and Early School Milk Model
ESMI helped demonstrate that school feeding could be practical, community-owned, and connected to local dairy production and livelihoods.
02School Milk and Emergency Response Reach
School milk programming reached more than 74,000 children, while emergency support served vulnerable pre-primary and primary students.
03National School Feeding Program Advocacy
Model programs in Bahir Dar and Sebeta helped strengthen recognition of school meals as a national investment in education and health.
04Infrastructure, Food Processing, and Dignified Services
Model kitchens, feeding areas, WASH facilities, MHM rooms, and food processing systems improved safety and dignity in service delivery.
05Dire Dawa School Feeding Systems Transformation
With UNICEF support, ESMI linked policy reform, financing, smart kitchen infrastructure, agriculture, and community ownership.
06Emergency School Feeding and IDP Support
ESMI has supported emergency food assistance for displaced communities and schoolchildren across several Ethiopian regions.
